Parque das Aves Next to Iguazú Falls: Is the Bird Park Worth Adding?

Yes, if you have half a day to spare on the Brazilian side and any interest in birds; no, if the falls are your only reason to come. The park is a walk through bird aviaries and forest, and it sits right beside the national park, so the two fit into one day.

What the park says about itself

The Parque das Aves is next to Iguaçu National Park, and the park says it is entirely feasible to visit both on the same day. It recommends going to the birds first, having lunch there, and then heading to the falls (Parque das Aves, FAQ). The address is on the Rodovia das Cataratas, km 17.1. You walk a signposted trail of about 2 kilometres at your own pace, and the park puts an average visit at 2 to 3 hours (Parque das Aves, feeding times). The park says it operates normally on rainy days. It also has a restaurant, a bistro and a café, and a souvenir shop; purchases there support its conservation work. In its visiting tips, the park suggests long trousers and closed shoes.

Two day tours that include it

The Brazilian falls and Bird Park tour from Foz do Iguaçu takes 6 hours and costs €37.44, rated 4.9 out of 5 from 189 reviews. The itinerary gives 2 hours at the Parque das Aves and 2 hours at the falls, in a standard group of up to 15 people. Hotel pickup in Foz do Iguaçu is included. The page also names both entry fees, but its itinerary marks the two stops “extra fee”, so count on paying them on top unless the operator confirms otherwise before you pay. The falls part is a walk of about 1,600 metres with some descents and stairs.

The Brazilian side and Bird Park tour from Puerto Iguazú takes 7 hours and costs €41, rated 4.1 out of 5 from 341 reviews. It crosses the border from Argentina, gives approximate amounts for both entry fees (check on the booking page whether they are listed as included), and describes toucans, macaws and flamingos. Its page says it is a group tour of up to 48 people and lists people with mobility impairments and wheelchair users under “not suitable for”.

Who should choose what

The Bird Park suits families with children who like animals and visitors who have seen the falls already. If you go on your own, spend the first part of the day at the park, as the park itself suggests. Skip the add-on if you have one short day and want to spend it at the falls.

Our recommendation

If you are based in Foz do Iguaçu, the falls and Bird Park tour is the simpler choice, once you have confirmed what the entry fees cover. From Puerto Iguazú, read our guide to the border and documents first, and see all Brazilian side tours.
